Cinci

Way back on March 15th, Ryan and I took a trip down to Cincinnati to escape Dayton and to try to get a little bit of culture.

First stop was the main reason for the trip in the first place- IKEA. A Swedish furniture store known for their cheap prices and furniture that you assemble yourself from ten million small pieces. The Ohio IKEA had just opened a few days prior and this was still a BIG DEAL for Ohio so we actually had to wait in line to get into the store. There were police directing traffic from 1 mile away and a whole lot of EVENT PARKING signs that were actually referring just to this store. We did find everything we were looking for- a dresser for the nursery, frames for the nursery Noah's Ark puzzles, and bedside tables for the master bedroom. It was the first time we used our new SUV for a true SUV purpose- hauling lots of furniture. Totally makes up for the 17 miles to the gallon gas mileage.

The next stop was the Cinci Art Museum, which happens to be free to the public because of donations from lots of random rich people. We didn't get to spend too much time there, but we did notice the Chaluli glass in the entrance hall- just like in Omaha, and then saw as many of the exhibits as we could.

After that, we headed across the river into Kentucky to have dinner at the Hoffbrau house- one of only 2 true Hoffbrau houses in the world (the other is in Germany). They brew beer there still according to the ancient purity laws set forth by- old German guys. Really I can't remember all of the history lesson from the menu- but the food was great, the atmosphere was fun, and the beer was great- per Ryan. Here are some pics of the polka band, our yummy food and the huge baby belly.

We then finished the evening at home putting together all of our new fun furniture.
