Halloween

This year for Halloween, the celebration was drawn out quite a bit.

Trick or treating (aka Beggars Night) was on the 30th. Since Ryan and I are procrastinators at heart, we hadn't yet carved our pumpkins, so we set up a table with our bowl of candy outside and carved our pumpkins while handing out candy. I carved a pirate ship and Ryan carved a scary spider. Several of the neighbors came to our place to hand out candy en masse, and they brought their pumpkins to help decorate the area, so we looked very festive. Here are a few of the neighbors and all of our pumpkins. The dog is dressed up as a lion, the baby is a pirate.

I did actually lay down the law on a few lazy teenagers who did not even bother to wear a hint of a costume and still expected candy. My response was "Try harder next year. No costume, no candy." And our house was not egged and our pumpkins were not smashed. Maybe the crime in Dayton is not as bad as it seems.

Then on Friday night, our neighbors had a late Halloween costume party. Ryan and I were pirates. Our neighbors Lauren and Andrew dressed up as a pirate and a dead zombie type guy. The dogs did not dress up this year since I couldn't find any good deals on pet costumes in their size. Maybe next year.
